Back to school with Milo

  • I’m a sucker for a good pair of little girls culottes.  These ones that are photographed are sold out but these DENIM CULOTTES are even better.
  • Milo has the FJALLRAVEN BACKPACK in peach pink and I’m loving it in this purple color as well.  If you scroll through the colors you will find the peach pink as well. Here is another PEACH BACKPACK similar to Milo’s but cheaper.
  • This BE KIND TOP is only $7.99!
  • Just bought this EMBROIDERED TUNIC for Milo
  • Bought these WATER RESISTANT SANDALS in both colors
  • If you need a good pair of girly, SLOUCH PANTS, these are the winners
  • You can’t go wrong with this simple STRIPED DRESS
  • I love how easy it is for Milo to put on these SLIP ON CHECKERED VANS by herself, especially after playing at recess and having her shoes full of sand
  • This CREWCUTS ROMPER is 40% off!
  • By far my favorite top that we purchased for school.  The cutest CROCHET TOP
  • These are probably the most used WHITE SHOES of Milo’s because they easily go with everything
  • I need these SKINNY JEANS in my size, I’m obsessed
  • I love love this simple FLORAL DRESS.  I love how girly it is and that you can pair it with some cute sneakers or sandals
  • These STRIPED SHORTS are flowy and so comfortable. Another option in FLORAL.
  • Milo wears these FRAYED BLACK SHORTS the most
  • Every little girl needs a good pair of DENIM OVERALLS and the light wash on these is the best
  • We’ve always had a pair of these SK8 SHOES.  They’re easy to slip on and off with their velcro straps and add some extra style to Milo’s outfits
  • Obsessed with this FLORAL JUMPER.

our go-to baby products

Happy Monday, friends!  I wanted to update you on some of my favorite baby products now that Raen is 5 weeks old.  I’ve been able to give some new ones a try and have been using others since Milo was itty bitty (she’s almost 6 now, whaaaaat!).  It’s crazy how much can change and what new products can come out between having your first and third baby.  Either way, each of these have become a staple in our home and I wanted to be sure to share them with you.

BABY ITEMS

1 I2 I3 I4 I5 I6 I7 I8 I9

1.  These orthodontic BINKIES!  I’m sure you’ve seen them all over the place but have you ever noticed the price?  They’re expensive and I found them in a set of three for almost the same price you regularly pay for one.  They’re 100% rubber, Paraben free, made without chemicals and are great for the development of your baby.  I bought two packs.

2.  I’ve used this BATHTUB for all of my babies.  It’s easy to use, can be folded at an angle making it perfect for bathing newborns and can be extended all the way down for bath time for a growing baby.  It folds up flat making it easy to store behind the door on a hook.

3.  If you already have a MAMAROO then you just know. There are 5 different motions like “car ride, wave, swing” etc. making it easy to find what your baby likes.  Did I mention it has bluetooth?  You can control it from your phone — done!

4.  I’ve used this same DRYING RACK for all three of my kids now.  It’s easy to wipe down and obviously lasts forever.

5.  I’ve always heard about the SMART SOCK but this is the first baby I’ve used it with and now I’m wondering how I survived without it.  It uses wi-fi to continuously read your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels.  The best part is the base station alerts you if your baby’s oxygen or heart rate drop too low, turning red with an alarm.  Just a few weeks ago when Raen was 1 week old, his heart rate dropped below 60 and he wasn’t breathing.  The base station started alarming and was red letting me know instantly what was happening.  I woke up and was able to grab him startling him and getting him to start breathing again.  He probably would have started breathing on his own eventually but you just never know in that situation and I’m glad I had it.  I don’t feel like I have to check every two seconds on how he’s doing and when my husband has him, the base station is right next to me to let me know he’s ok.

6.  If you want a pop of color and a DIAPER BAGwith lots of pockets and a changing pad built straight into it, this is your bag.

7.  Have you seen the wood pacifier clips that are $18 for one?  That’s crazy to me!  These PACIFIER CLIPS are $10.99 and you get a pack of FIVE!!

8.  I’ve had this DIAPER BAG for over three years now and it still looks like new.  It has big pockets, it’s easy to wipe down and the best part is my husband doesn’t mind carrying it around with it’s neutral tones.

9.  All three of my kids have used these BOTTLES and I don’t plan on switching any time soon.  To be honest, they basically feel like a boob and they’re easy to clean!  They come in 5oz for newborns and 8oz as your baby grows.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Finally owning a home again feels amazing. We loved our home in Arizona and are really sad it’s now for sale because we feel like it is closure that we really don’t live there anymore. We were sad to be leaving our beautiful home in Arizona for a rental in Utah, but we just wanted to be able to spend some time in the city and really get a feel for what living there would really be like before buying again. And I can definitely say we love Utah! Our rental was great and we really lucked out because it was already so cute, but we definitely didn’t feel like it was “ours” and weren’t able to add touches that really fit our personalities and design style! We love the outdoors and we love bringing those elements into our home. I posted about Milo’s room here, and we have finally finished Ruckus’ room!

When Ben and I decided to design and decorate Ruck’s room, we wanted it to be simple, have clean lines, but still practical for him, Milo, and us to all play in. We started by picking a paint color because I knew I wanted to do an accent wall behind his crib. We lived in California for a while and we all love the ocean, so a calming blue was an easy choice. We ended up going with Behr in the color Ovation. I had this crib and this dresser before moving into our house, but I loved them so much that we kept them!

We wanted all of the elements in his room to be pretty kid-proof and easy to maintain. I found this amazing metal basket that I knew belonged in his room. I fell in love with the mountains when we moved here and I love the way the lines totally look similar to mountain range. This kid-safe cactus was a no brainer; we are all Arizona obsessed.

Mixing patterns and textures is something I love about designing a space. We really like natural materials so I use a lot of linens and leather and patterns with lines, dots, and geometric shapes. I would definitely say we try to go for a more mid-century modern feel, but with our own Christensen touch! And same goes for the toys. We try and support small shops and beautiful hand-crafted toys made from natural materials; they add a design element, just by themselves! We are definitely more minimal than most. We try and keep our spaces organized and I love that his room is so easy to clean, because if you have little boys, I bet you understand how quickly it can go from clean to a complete disaster!

This room would definitely be achievable even if we were in a rental, but I would have probably just used an easy, semi-permanent wall paper for the accent wall. We are all so happy with how it turned out and we love having spaces that our kids love to play in!
